Inkhosikati LaFogiyane
Inkhosikati LaFogiyane, born Sindiswa Dlamini, is the fourteenth wife of King Mswati III of Eswatini. Her rise to prominence began when she was crowned Miss Cultural Heritage 2016–2017, a national pageant aimed at celebrating and preserving Swazi traditions among the youth. She was selected as a royal bride during the Umhlanga Reed Dance ceremony in 2013, a traditional rite where the king chooses a new wife from among eligible young women.
LaFogiyane officially entered the royal family in 2014 and assumed the title of Inkhosikati, integrating into the ceremonial and cultural life of the Swazi monarchy. She is known for her poised and elegant demeanor, often appearing at national events and royal functions alongside other members of the royal household.
Role as First Lady
Although Eswatini does not follow the conventional model of a single First Lady due to its polygamous monarchy, each queen consort plays a role in representing the kingdom and supporting cultural preservation. Inkhosikati LaFogiyane’s background in cultural advocacy, bolstered by her beauty pageant platform, aligns naturally with her role in the royal family. She actively participates in promoting Swazi heritage, female empowerment through cultural identity, and traditional values.
She is also a mother to two of King Mswati III’s daughters, Princess Ntsandvweni and Princess Nolikhwa, reinforcing her place in the royal lineage and her contribution to the future of the monarchy. Her story symbolizes the unique intersection of tradition, modern representation, and national identity that characterizes life in Eswatini’s royal court.
