Sajdha Mohamed
Sajidha Mohamed, often affectionately called Saaji, is the current First Lady of the Maldives, serving since November 2023 as the wife of President Mohamed Muizzu. A dedicated civil servant by background, Sajidha has emerged as a prominent figure in Maldivian public life through her support for her husband’s political career and her active role in social and cultural initiatives since assuming the role of First Lady.
Early Life and Education
Born in Malé, Kaafu Atoll, Sajidha is the daughter of the esteemed religious scholar Sheikh Mohamed Ibrahim and Habeeba Ali. Raised in a family rooted in Islamic scholarship, she completed her Bachelor’s degree at St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore in 2003. Following this, she pursued and attained a Master’s degree at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, alongside her future husband, Mohamed Muizzu.
Marriage and Family
Sajidha met Mohamed Muizzu in 2003 at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (now Velana International Airport) shortly after she returned from Bangalore. The couple married on 18 May 2003 and are parents to three children: Yasmine, Umair, and Zaid.
